Terry has led the development of a number of standards widely adopted by the gold mining industry. This includes the Conflict-Free Gold Standard, the first industry-led scheme to set out responsible business practices in conflict-affected areas. He also led the development of the Guidance Note on All-In Sustaining Costs and All-In Costs, which supports enhanced transparency and consistency of financial reporting for gold producers. He is currently leading the development of the Responsible Gold Mining Principles and assessing gold’s role in regards to climate change.

One of three key figures from within the Gold Industry, Terry took part in producing this import report “Responsible gold mining: how can it aid sustainable development?” These influential figure from within the gold industry discuss the role of the Conflict-Free Gold Standard in ensuring responsible mining and explore whether it is achieving what it set out to do.
