Dr David Ko worked for three decades in the investment industry exploiting opportunities to make money from the markets. He joined LTCM at its inception leaving a lectureship in physics at Oxford University.
Dubbed the “Dream Team”, the hedge fund dominated the investment industry with huge returns before taking the world to financial Armageddon.
He was a partner of the ensuing JWM Partners fund which grew ten times in size before he stepped out in 2007 ahead of the Great Financial Crisis and returned later to start a macro and liquidity fund under the Janus Henderson umbrella.
Following successful fundraising and performance, he moved into the equity space with the ambition to develop machine intuition powerful enough for a machine to be a board member of a major company.
David spent several years looking into sustainability and investments to conclude our investment expectations are too high and there is simply too much money. Investment is a double edged sword that turns good intentions and innovations into new unsustainable practices. His book, The Unsustainable Truth, addresses the fundamental premise of sustainability.
David co-founded Rethinking Choices. Their Transformational Ownership proposal is a market solution to transform fossil fuels into stewardship and providing ethical clarity for all actors: governments, asset owners and investors, businesses, and individuals.
