Jim is a Director of Trustee Decisions Ltd, providing professional trustee services to a range of Irish Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution pension schemes.

He is a Non-Executive Director of Newcourt Retirement Fund Managers Ltd and of the Irish Forestry Unit Trust Forestry Management Ltd and was Chairman of Irish Airlines Pensions DAC for nine years to July 2024.

Jim previously worked with eircom Ltd, the National Australia Group, the Institute of Public Administration, and the Central Bank of Ireland in a range of pension, finance, economic and HR roles.

He is a past Chair and Director of the Irish Association of Pension Funds Ltd (IAPF).

He has a primary degree in Financial Services from University College Dublin and a master’s in business administration from Trinity College Dublin and the Irish Management Institute.

He qualified as an Accountant with the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and has a post graduate qualification in Corporate Governance from the Smurfit Business School, UCD.

In 2018 he completed the “Qualified Pension Trustee” course on Law and Governance for Trustees from the Irish Institute of Pensions Management. Two of the Boards that Jim sits on are signatories to the United Nations supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). In 2019 he completed the “Responsible Investment for Trustees” programme with the PRI and

In May 2021 he completed the “Sustainable Capitalism and ESG “course with the University of California, Berkeley Law.

In July 2024 Jim was appointed by the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) to their Occupational Pensions Stakeholder Group (OPSG) for a 4-year term following a competitive process across 28 European countries.

Jim is a regular contributor to pension’s conferences in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Europe, and the USA and has worked in the Financial Services, Telecommunications and Pensions sectors in Ireland and the UK as well as on World Bank funded projects in Zambia and Uganda.
