Caroline leads the global stewardship and corporate governance work across £37bn AUM for Railpen, the in-house manager for the UK railways pension schemes, one of the UK’s largest schemes with over 350,000 members.
She was previously in charge of the investment, stewardship and collective engagement programme at the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association (PLSA). Prior to this, she was Head of Public Policy at the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association (UKSIF). She started her career in fixed income research.
She is Chair of the Investor Coalition for Equal Votes (ICEV), an accredited professional pension trustee at the Standard Life Master Trust, winner of Investment Week’s “Investment Woman of the Year 2019” award and was also one of Financial News’ 2020 “Top 25 Rising Stars of Asset Management in Europe”. In her spare time, she chairs NextGen, an industry organisation which seeks to boost cognitive diversity in the pensions sector, and is a Board Director of the Social Market Foundation (SMF) think-tank. She also sits on various industry committees, including the ICGN’s Global Stewardship Committee and the UK government’s Taskforce for Social Factors.
