As the first Chief Executive of the Pensions Infrastructure Platform (PiP), Mike led the development of a £1bn infrastructure investment manager during his 4 years tenure. This included raising over £1bn of investment commitment and completing asset/portfolio investments in 10 Core UK infrastructure projects including PFI hospitals, social housing schemes, renewables and investment into major engineering projects.
As Chair of the Institute of Cancer Research Pension Scheme, Mike understands the need to ensure the most effective management of the scheme to enable the Institute to devote the maximum possible resources to the fight against cancer. The Scheme is well on the way to full funding based on successful investment, governance and recovery plan strategies.
A well-known industry figure, Mike is a regular presenter at industry events where his extensive experience as a former chief executive of LGPS Central, one of eight Local Government Pension Scheme pooling organisations adds significant value. During his tenure in Wolverhampton, he was responsible for supporting the retirement incomes of over 1 million LGPS members, funded by over 2000 local employers.
He delivered a steep trajectory of organisational, cultural and performance progress, reaching almost £30bn AuM, more than doubling the team and significantly expanding the range of available investment funds.
