Toby Belsom brings over 30 years of deep experience at the intersection of fund management, ESG investing, and policy guidance. He began his career as an equity analyst in one of Europe’s top-rated socially responsible investment teams and went on to manage nearly £1 billion in UK equity portfolios across Aviva Investors and Henderson Investors.
Toby later led ESG research and advocacy through a senior role at ShareAction, overseeing the Asset Owners Disclosure Project, and bridging investment oversight with real-world impact.
At the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), he now heads the Investor Practices team—developing ESG guidance tools across all asset classes, ranging from listed equities and passive strategies to sovereign debt and private markets. His team supports asset owners in responding to regulatory frameworks like SFDR and regulatory expectations around net-zero commitments
Toby is also an Advisory Board member at ESG data provider Novata and investor relations firm CEN Advisory, and actively contributes to the CFA ESG Working Group, enhancing best practices in sustainable investment disclosure
